It's a funny concept, but it isn't ASCII art. ASCII art is always made by hand - and you can make some really cool animations without using converters, much cooler in fact. I'd suggest relocating the picture to Digital Art > Miscellaneous.
:iconfranticflame:
I appreciate your hardcore ASCII art skills. It's obvious from your gallery and website you spend a lot of time doing this. Although, according to Deviant Art's ASCII art definition I do not believe it's necessary for me to move my submission to dev art> Misc. As it is:
The ASCII art section is for images created using alphanumerics and puncuation found on ASCII keyboards. This section should not be used to house emoticons created out of two or three letters such as the smilies. Any work can be submitted here as long as it is produced using strictly ASCII (including extended ASCII) text.

ASCII art is cool and I will always have respect for people who take the time to draw it out by hand. Especially people who ASCIIfy 120 of the 150 original pokémon. :D But I don't have that kind of time, and if I *did* have the kind of time, there are other hobbies in my life that are more important. Like animating. And when I can combine ASCII and animation.. well.. fun times is had by me. Also, seeing as how I used a program called "ASCII Art Studio" and Imageready to make this, I define it as ASCII art.

Heh, thanks for the compliments and for explaining your point of view. Now if you don't mind I'd like to explain mine. First of all, the descriptions of the text art galleries are seriously flawed. One of the biggest problems is the phrasing "any artwork can be submitted here", as it's the only part some people notice, but it's not the only flaw and I'm not alone in thinking this. The admins contacted me and another Deviant about helping to revise the Text Art galleries, but that was back in September or October and the problem still remains.

For me ASCII art is one of my most important hobbies, but I understand it's not the same for most people. But I still think it should be treated with the same respect as any other medium. I know I'd never have the patience to do watercolor painting even though I'd really like to, but I still wouldn't photoshop a photo to look like a watercolor painting and submit it into Traditional Art. It wouldn't belong there. I might make such a manipulation for fun, but I'd submit it into Digital Art (or probably Scraps, since it would be mostly made with the program).

It's actually quite funny that there are several programs named ASCII art something, while they're all meant for converting pictures - and on the other hand I can't think of a single ASCII editor that has "ASCII art" in its name. If you want to try out real ASCII animations some day, I recommend using JavE. These days it can even export straight to animated GIF.
:iconfranticflame:
That's fine. To be honest if there was just a plain "animations" category I would've put it there. I'd have rather had it in that category.

Just go ahead and send me a note when Dev Art decides to change to your ASCII description and I'll be happy to move it. Or Dev Art can delete it when that happens. Until then, I'm keeping it where it is.
